Rights of Passage
Long Term Transitional Living

Rights of Passage is a 32-bed congregate in Hollywood and a 12-bed program in Oakland which offers a transitional living program that emphasizes the development of life skills that will eventually allow youth to achieve and maintain an independent lifestyle in their own permanent housing. A key component of the program is the "Life Skills" curriculum that addresses topics such as goals setting, time and money management, health issues, relationships, communications, cooking and other skills.

Christina Finds Stability and Starts Anew

"Its tough to get your life together when your're homeless Says Christina, a 21 year old Covenant House youth who has been homeless since she was 16. "Things like working and going to school just aren't as important when you're wondering where you're going to sleep that night." She says.

Christina says she considered trying to stay at an adult shelter until a friend told her about Covenant House. "Covenant House offered me something that I hadn't had for along time—a bed."
