Big Sunday is Coming on April 29th, 2007! Volunteer and be a part of the fun!
BIG SUNDAY is an annual, city-wide volunteer day. Last year on Big Sunday, done in partnership with the Office of Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa, more than 32,000 volunteers from hundreds of congregations, schools, offices, clubs and other groups volunteered at nearly 250 different non-profits. Covenant House California will be participating with a Car Wash and thank-a-thon.
CAR WASH
From 10 to 2:30 p.m. volunteers will help with a car wash to raise funds for activities for homeless youth. Dress to work, get wet, and have a great time with CHC youth. Children are ok, but must be supervised by parents or guardians. Donations of soap, rags, and buckets are appreciated, but not required.
THANK-A-THON
Join with other CHC volunteers and call to say thank you to our existing donors. Don’t worry, this is not a fundraising or telemarketing call, but a thank you call to acknowledge a recent donation to support our kids. You will be provided with a phone script and a list of recent donors and their phone numbers. Saying thanks is one of the few ways we have of giving back to our donors who make our work with homeless kids possible. Your help will let us reach out and thank many more of our friends. From 10 to 2:30 p.m. volunteers will help with phone calls. We have space for ten callers on our lines, or bring your own cell phone and use those free weekend minutes for a great cause! This is the only volunteer project that day that won’t require wet or sweat, so if your preference runs toward helping in the office this is the opportunity for you!
