Under the supervision of the ESP Coordinator, the Employment Skills Program Specialist will assist clients in building educational skills and obtaining the credentials that will strengthen their capacity for self-sufficiency. The position works with clients between the ages of 18 to 24. Essential functions of the position include providing education and vocational counseling to assist clients with education programs including GED instruction, college/financial aid applications, and trade schools based on the clients’ goals and interests. Coordinate between clients and various education program personnel to ensure smooth transitions and success. Provide tutoring and instruction to increase clients computer literacy skills, and applicable skills sets based on standardized tests and assessments. Serve as liaison between Covenant House California and off-site education schools and programs. Maintain accurate department records, evaluate and assess clients’ needs and current programs. As appropriate, develop new program curriculum applicable to client needs.
